1. What does MoLAA stand for?

Museum of Latin American Art

2. What are the video clips about?

The video clips explain what the museum is about and show a glipse of the art that is inside. They also show other activities that are available in the museum.

3. What did you learn from the video clips?

Part 1)
The first video clip was an introduction that explained what the museum was and what it had to offer. Until the MoLAA museum was founded 6 yrs ago by Robert Gumbiner, there was no other Latin American museum in the U.S. This museum offers not only art, but also a sense of culture and history of Latin America. The mission of the museum is to educate American's on contemporary Latin American Art.

Part 2)
The second video clip was a slide show of some of the collections of art work that's displayed at the museum. Their are many unique and interesting pieces, from oils and acrylics to tar and sculptures. Each artist has its own style and within that tells its story, giving the museum an eclectic work of art. One artists work that I enjoyed was Andres Michelena who used vinyl and plexiglass to create his art.

Part 3)
The third video I watched was another one from you tube. It interviewed the employees of the museum and vistors who explained in more detail about the museum. This video showed different artwork from the other videos and also explored some of the dances that are performed at the museum. Something that appeals to many visitors is the fact that the art is often replaced by new pieces which gives people the opportunity to keep coming back knowing they will see new work.

5. List 3 things from MoLAA website

a)
This website offers an opportunity to do some traveling. They have a program called molla travelers, which is for museum members. It allows people to travel throught the U.S. to places such as New York, Miama, etc. as well as places such as Argentina and other locations abroad in the Caribbean, Central, and South America. They give you tours of museums, exhibits, fairs and landmarks all with a Latin American focus.

b)
Every year the museum holds an auction, which includes over 240 pieces of art work, such as paintings, portraits, and sculptures. Available art is from well known Latin American artists and those artists that are trying to establish themselves. This auction not only allows people to purchase artwork from artists they admire, but also raises funds for the museum so it can continue to enhance their exhibits and keep their programs running.

c)
The museum also offers a place for people to hold banquets, meetings, and even weddings. They provide an elagant environment from the lighting, to sounds, with a Latin American flare.
